Tafra Meetups has launched almost a year ago with the vision of creating a community for techies.
Technology has always been a hot topic. There are many different entities focusing on it and discussing it’s different branches. With Tafra, techies now have some places to go meet each other and connect with others.
I attended their 30th meetup here is what I think!
How was the SIZE of the event?
For the last 30 meetups Tafra held, they served around 1,130 techies and had attendees from 8 nationalities. (These numbers are shared by Tafra team). Their objective is to create a community for techies, which is a huge pain that many can see. I believe having around 20-40 attendees at each meetup is a suitable size. It definitely varies depending on the topic and other factors. This number allows for good discussions and networking after the event too.
Was the ticket AFFORDABLE?
With a 135 EGP for Early Bird and 160 EGP for Late Owl ticket, Tafra Meetups are perfectly affordable for their attendees. Sometimes, they also have discounts with partners too. Startups Galaxy offered a Tafra discount during our Startup Deals Newsletter. (If you haven’t subscribed, do so here!)
Anyways, I believe they are affordable for almost everyone.
Did you like the Content?
This is something I absolutely LOVED about the meetup. Being very selective when it comes to speakers and content is something that takes a big effort. Tafra showed me that we have very good calibers in Egypt in the tech industry.
It is also interesting that even when having 2-3 meetups each month, Tafra team is still focusing on the quality of the content.
The only comment I had on the content is that speakers should’ve been given relatively longer time to share their experience.
Have you got what you needed of NETWORKING?
Networking is one of the perks of attending Tafra Meetups. They dedicate time of the agenda to make sure people get to know each other. So if you’re looking to hire or network with techies, a Tafra meetup is a great platform for this.
The nature of the meetups also makes it easier for people to mingle because of the not so big number of attendees. That’s why I was saying it’s a good opportunity to hire, network and talk to techies with different expertise.
What did you think of the Organization?
This type of event doesn’t need much effort on organizing, it took one person to manage the registration, do the introduction and keep the timing during their last meetup. I believe they need someone for the coverage on social media too.
I’m Noor El-Tahan and I won’t just be attending events and writing about them, I’ll be rating them too! Let me know what you think.
