The latest rise in the gas prices had people searching for the cheapest way to navigate their way around Egypt. In such a country with a rising population, the daily commute is a tough task for many of us.
Many have thought about ditching their normal means of transportation (especially those who drive their own cars or use ridesharing services) to something cheaper like public transportation. Public transportation; however, is unfortunately not the safest or most practical solution in many cases.
Don’t worry I am here with a solution.
Tink is a ridesharing mobile application that connects riders from the same social network. The application is introducing “social riding,” a new concept in the market that fills the gap between on-demand services and carpooling. It helps users organize both on-demand and pre-planned car trips.
The users as mentioned above are from the same social network, meaning that users will be riding either with their friends or friends of friends. Using tink not only helps users avoid the unappealing concept of carpooling and the high prices of on-demand services, but it also provides users with services requiring no physical cash, and no credit cards as well.
Okay. What’s the catch?
There is no catch. Tink uses a system of gamified tokens, both riders and drivers earn tokens based on the number of kilometers you cross on each ride. For example, if you are taking a trip with two friends from downtown Cairo to 6th the of October, which is 50Kilometers, you will earn 50 tokens on each rider so your total is 100 tokens. These tokens are used to ride again with other passengers or you can redeem your tokens for food, coffee, etc.
Tink is still in the test run phase, but if you are going to Sahel (North Coast) this summer, you are about to get lucky.
The “social ride-sharing” service is now available from Cairo to the North Coast and between several compounds in Sahel. To use Tink services you have to use the closed Facebook group Tink Sahel RideSharing
We are happy to announce launching our service for only these two fixed routes during the summer season.Between Cairo…
